Electric beds tend to come with premium power bases that let users put themselves in the best position to sleep, read, sit, work, or watch television. More advanced beds may even have head or foot massage capabilities to help users unwind with soothing, gentle vibrations. But what happens when your electric bed stops working?

To get you back to restful nights and maximum comfort, we discuss what to do when your electric bed stops working and how you can fix it.

Check the remote

You may be surprised, but in most circumstances, the remote is the problem. Check to make sure all batteries are installed correctly or have enough juice to still function. Sometimes the issue can be old or faulty batteries that prevent the remote from working.

Look at all of the bed’s wiring

After checking your remote, make sure to do a thorough check to make sure your bed is plugged in properly. Check areas like the wall circuit and any wiring on your electrical bed. Sometimes random factors like pets or daily housekeeping can disrupt the security of the wires.

It’s also worth checking the control box and any wiring on the base of the bed to ensure everything is plugged in properly.

Inspect the child safety locks

Your electrical bed may have a child safety lock to prevent your children from accidentally activating the bed. It’s a relatively common occurrence for people with young families or grandchildren.

Depending on which bed you purchased, the control switches can usually be found on the remote or the box that controls the adjustable base. Be sure to check your instruction manual to determine which buttons will fix the issue.

Move any stray bedding

Your electrical bed can be disrupted by loose sheets, blankets, or comforters that get nudged into a bed’s joint. Make sure that there aren’t any stray sheets lodged in any part of the bed. Be careful when removing anything you may find, and seek help if a jam looks beyond your power. If you don’t ask for help, you could damage the bed, or worse, yourself.

Check your warranty

If you’ve tried the above steps and still have no luck, it’s time to bust out the warranty manual. We offer full warranties on all of our products and excellent customer service who can help you with any questions or issues you may have about your electrical bed.

Depending on which bed you purchased, you may have a one, two, or twenty-year warranty on your electrical bed. All new beds come with a full one-year warranty that protects against any defects in workmanship or materials. We will pay for all authorized labor and transportation costs associated with any parts found to be defective during that one year.
